17 x 8.5 fits 255/40 tires??? For E36
Hey guys, i just got an amazing deal on some tires and instinctivly i bought them *drink*
I got 17 inch rimms with 8.5 inch wide, and the person that i bought them from assured me that it will fit my e36 with stock suspensions.... also these are only for the back wheels btw.... What do you all think.... |
Anyone!!!????
even a Good Guess would be nice.... |
Should be fine depending on the offset of the wheels.
|
Offset is 38 also i just found out,, my rims are actualy 17x8... not 8.5
|
tire rack usually shows the recommended rim width for each brand of tire. I think 8" may be a bit narrow for a 255, depending on how much you want to stretch it. You'd probably be better off with a 235 or 245. But if you got them for cheap, might as well try!

Ok got them mounted!!! they fit perfectly.. so for future references... 17x8 ET38 will fit 255/40r17s!!!! for the rear
BTW they charged me 90 bucks for putting the tires on the rims and balancing... WTF!!!! |
$90 is alot, some places charge ridiculous amounts, you should have shopped around.
Does the 255s look bad on the 8'' rim? Post some pictures of the fitment. |

Also it doesnt look bad at all... i will take a few pics tonight. It doesnt rub anywhere not even with 5 people in the car... but its on stock suspension... imma put my lowering springs in soon and i'll let you know how it sits.. Also since i got runflats.... do you guys think i should take the spare tire out..... |
