Driveshaft Options.
Are there any modern options for used drive shafts. The whole thing or more importantly the back half.

Anyone knows what will fit 100%... Z3? I just want to weigh my options, used replacements are all getting old.

Stock 325i 1987 Manual.

Why not find a driveshaft shop that can change your U-Joints = new old driveshaft?

Just called a few, both won't touch any BMW shafts since they would have to drill out the old joints groove the carrier, then re-balance. I emailed a place in T.O. but I'm not looking to blow $400 on a shaft, if all I need to do is grab the back half of a z3 shaft for $200 and pop it on. :)

Dynamic shaft in ajax will do it, they quoted me around 250-300 about a year ago. That's for new u-joints and a rebalance, not bad if you ask me.

Thanks man. I'll note that as a good option.

:s The place I got mine done charges about the same, but you didn't seem interested so I didn't bother with the price :D

Reman'd DS ftw!

i looked into rebuild options and finally decided that new was the best choice. no rebuild will be as good as new, since they can't use the same high quality joints bmw uses. they all drill out and retrofit to inferior snap in joints or spot welded joints.

so it came down to about 400$ for an inferior rebuild + 100$ for a guibo and CSB.

i went with a brand new driveshaft from tischer, ~550$ (+shipping, tax, etc) but this includes a brand new BMW guibo and CSB and completely rust free. rebuild made no sense.

the front half was actually fine, but the rear joint near the diff was rusted and not smooth at all.
