The E30 Addiction.

As of Wednesday April 14th, I had my E30 put back on the road since last November.

I put on 400kms, and burned through 1.5 tanks of fuel.

Thinking of all the mods I can do to it.

Point of thread...E30 is a drug.

**** Rob, you've gotta shift out of second when you're doing 100km/h!!

dble Trouble 04-17-2010 12:04 PM

Holy crap Rob. I go 600 to 700 km/.tank on my E30 M20. Why don't you just drive it year round like I do, and then you never have to miss it.

Absence makes the heart grow fonder. And you forget all the things that are listed in the "You know you drive an E30" thread so you end up looking at your E30 through rose colored glasses lol.

Agreed. However, I say nuts to that. Everytime I drive my wife's car '03 Jetta 1.8t wagon, a friends or family members car I think damn, I can't wait to get back into my e30. When I'm in my e30, I'm thinking why is it so hard for other manufacturers to build a car like this?

everlast 04-17-2010 01:42 PM

Well, I am blessed with an E90 for the winter, so I guess I'm lucky that way. E30 suspension has nothing on the E90, but I still love the E30 more.

He can't drive it year around because he needs a few months of physiotherapy once a year to recover from his 2nd to 3rd wrist snapping shift lol
j/k

When I'm at school I only drive my car once or twice a week and I'm always excited when I get to drive it. Definitely looking forward to driving it every day when I start my summer job in 2 weeks.

Wow, brutal mileage! I think the worst tank I ever got was 250ish, but it was pretty much all WOT, the whole day LOL...

nonlocal 04-18-2010 03:02 PM

I think I'm headed for less than 400 again on this tank... If I'm just driving on highways and country roads I can push toward (but never yet past) 500km... very jealous of John's 6-700km :P WTF do *you* need that injector cleaning for!?

My 4.27 rear diff definitely doesn't help but I think I should get my injectors in to Giles. . might pay for itself in a couple months.

Not to mention that's with an M20................not to rub it in or anything. I thought M42's were supposed to be better on fuel??? :D

DR.ZED 04-19-2010 06:47 PM

I've been trying to figure out why my M20 started getting really bad mileage. 37 - 39L I put in and was down to 295 kms per tank or so.

Changed plugs, wires, dist and nothing helped until I started looking at the O2 sensor. Doubled checked the heater relay and low and behold it was fried.

Changed it (its a SPST diode relay) and I'm back up to around 400 - 450 kms per tank. Prolly over 500 kms if I straight roll on the highway.
