Kumho Ku25 vs. Dunlop Direzza DZ101 ??

Thinking about get 18" rims for my E90. A local shop has tire & rim package with either Kumho AST (Ku25) or Dunlop Direzza DZ-101. Size is 225 40 R18. Dunlops have price premium of about $150. What is my best bet here?

Summer driving only...perferably not too noisy

Can't comment on the Dunlops although in speaking with folks I know in the business the Kumho Ku25 are great for the first year and then they get hard and lose a tremendous amount of grib in 2nd and subsequent years.... Heard this from a few folks. I was considering them, thats why I was inquiring. I went with the Falken 912s and I'm very happy!!!

I'm guessing the Dunlops are the Direzza Star Spec? If so that's a great tire. I've had very good luck with older Dunlop summer tires too. Get them.

Both tires are poor, in my opinion. Both provide incredibly bad wet traction; those Dunlops seem to be popular because of marketing alone (Direzza's for cheap). Look up testing on Tirerack to see just how bad they both are.

For good cheap tires in that size, look at the Falken 912.

If it's the Direzza Star Spec (there are different Direzzas) that's actually a really well respected tire. And Tire Rack ranked it really well during initial testing, unless they revised their opinion. I haven't tried them myself.

DZ-101 are NOT Star specs!
Star specs cost alot more, these are the cheaper line that suck balls as Jay mentioned.

Both tires are mediocre price point (for that brand) tires. You get what you pay for. Someone else said, those Dunlops are NOT star specs. If they were then that absolutely would be the tire to go with. My personal favorite summer tire right now. They are as good as it gets before getting into DOT R comps.
