Black 2003 BMW 540i M-sport Headlights
 

Hello, i currently have the stock halo xenon's, and they are a little fogged up and dirty. I decided i would just change them all together, rather than taking another approach.

Would anyone be able to suggest a new set of headlights that are quality, and look nice? i would prefer them to still have the halo look to them.

Quality eh? Euro Hellas. Expect $1600 or so shipped.

Going cheap? Grab DJ Auto's. Just expect to replace them every 8 months or so from pitting, fogging, or other wonderful things.

Polish them!!! They will look like new when done. It takes about 30 minutes each and supplies should cost less than $15 total.

Sounds like its worth trying, do i polish the outside? or is there anyway to get inside?

Usually the plastic on the outside is beat up and dull and that is what you polish.

You can get to the inside by heating up the adhesive and carefully pry the headlight cover off. I did this when I changed my headlight adjusters. Why do you want to get inside the headlight?

I have read the BMW changed the adhesive in 03, and they can not be removed by heating and prying.
I wet sanded starting with 800, 1000, 1500, 2000 grit paper. Then I used the drill and cotton wheel with aluminum polish. (Yes, it works great!)

BTW, you don't have to remove the headlights to polish them. I was changing my aux fan, and they needed to come off.

totally forgot about the polishing option. Yes best to take the lights off first, makes the process a lot easier. Also it pretty easy to get the lights off.

i'm going to give that a try i think.

am i able to change the color of the yellow rings of light?

Sure can, you just need to buy a different bulb for the "angel eyes"

I think so... they are only held on by 4 screws.

one of my buddies 540ia headlight fogged up and stays like that. Light expired already?
