Transmission Failsafe Program

Hi all, I have a 2001 540i and last week, I had a dash message that said "transmission failsafe program". I could not start the car for a while then when I jiggled the transmission stick, the car started and I have not had the message back since. Did anyone else on this forum know what this is. I called Mississauga BMW service dept twice and they still have not got back to me.

Might have a problem with the ABS module or the transmission control unit.

On the other end of the repair side, I had this appear on my E53. Three weeks later, a new transmission!@#$#

They are the worst dealer hands down. I have horror stories that after you hear what happened to me you will never take your vehicle for service again.

Their service ad-visor Andy if he is still there has no clue what he is talking about and no idea how to take care of customers. They are money hungry blood sucking parasites.

+1 bad battery can cause the alternator to go south as well. getting the battery checked out is the cheapest thing you can do at this point.
