E36 one day conversion to 400bhp...some may hate this!!!

I would defo like this if i had a small engined E36. Cheap and easy conversion with tons of potential.

When you say cheap....how cheap?

Bullet Ride 11-09-2009 12:40 PM

$17k. You gotta be kidding. You can install a high end turbo system for half that (in about a day as well if you buy a kit) and it will make 400+hp easily.

hypno_nls1 11-09-2009 01:43 PM

this is the dumbest thing ive ever seen and the biggest waste of money

hypno_nls1 11-09-2009 01:43 PM

with 17 grand under my hood id be expecting much better results than that

who said 17K?
You can get the full conversion kit for 3k and then add an engine. 17k is fitted with all the work done by a shop. That is not bad.
and i did say its ideal for a small engined BMW (eg. 318is) Otherwise its better to FI the original engine.

It said $17k in the subtitles of the video.
And once again I still don't think that $17k to have an e36 M3 on stock suspension with 400hp is a good performance/$ ratio. The conversion isn't that easy either the video even says that they had to make custom motor mounts and do a bunch of wiring, but because they've done it once and figured it out they would be able to do it again in a day. If you wanted to do it your self it would be a lot more tedious than if you were to swap an S5x motor into your e36 with a turbo kit and some nice suspension and brakes.

ShortShifter 11-09-2009 11:11 PM

Yeah I wouldn't do this swap for 17k. Would do S52 swap (3500) and nice turbo (6k) so for 9500 you have a monster of a machine, didn't have to mess with the wiring, no custom mounts and you keep it german :) Also saving yourself 7500.

fukenricen 11-09-2009 11:20 PM

1500-2500 for that motor and tranny boosted from factory, motor will hold over 600hp stock some have made over 800stock

Guys,
17K is the rate in Japan with the motor fitted.

I assume you are talking about the M3?
If so 10K for about 60bhp is crazy.
I can get at least 500-600bhp with 10 k on that engine.

As for the video i meant 17k (USD) is the rate in Japan. And i also assume that includes buying the car too.
