93 320i have the right OBD1 parts?
Kinda new to the BMW game, defected from VW about a month ago, forgive my newbness.
While strolling through the local wrecking yard, I found a 93 320i. It's OBD1, was wondering if these components are suitable for a OBD1 conversion for a S5x or M5x everyone goes on about. If so, what bits do I need? Yes, I did a search, but found incomplete opinions and info sources.
I know the intake mani and TB are what you want, but what else is required in the swap. Also, do the 320i pieces even qualify for this swap or do they have to come from an early 325?
No they dont. All 320 parts are specific, and useless for OBD1 swaps, (unless you want to downgrade!). The intake manifold has smaller ports, the trottle body is smaller, all sensors are 320 specific (cam/cranck/knock), so is the harness, MAF and DME....*wave*
Ah thanks man, the yard is owned by a friend of mine, all it would've cost me is large DD Timmies. You saved me pulling all that crap for nothing.
So all these pieces have to come from a 325 then?
I owe ya a beer!!
No problem! *th-up* Yes they have to be from 93 and up 325/525 as the early 91-92 M50's had no vanos, and the only thing you can use from them is the intake and Tbody...
