E36 OBD-1 Conversion Question
 
Hey guys got a 96 328is, with what i believe is an obd-2. Just looking for some proffesional opinions and experiances about converting to the OBD-1. Also what would happen if i stick a 3.5" mass air sensor replacing the 3" one? Would it be as easy as replacing it, plugging it, and would that be it or would i have to get some tunning done?? If anyone has any knowledge about the obd-1 conversion or replacing the air mass sensor for the larger one i will be happy to hear what you guys have to say. Thanks

There are quite a few other things you need to do to convert to OBDI

Unless you are installing an s52, why bother converting to OBD-1?

Converting to OBD-I and putting on a M50 manifold are not the same thing. The latter includes the former though.

k i have found quite a bit of information about the m50 conversion and it seems really do-able, but does any one have any experiance with upgrading to a 3.5" mass air sensor?

google it and look around lots of people have done it I will be doing mine this winter. seams to give alot to OB2 cars. sums up to a light loss of low end power and a good gain in mid and top end. a well invested 400$.

Just to be clear ... the answers you have gotten refer to putting on the OBDI (M50) manifold. An actual OBDI conversion involves changing the wiring harness and computer to be OBDI, and is a pretty involved process usually reserved for engines swaps and track cars.
