Help! E38 no sound problem.

hi guys,
ive recently purchased a e38 with few minor problems to be worked out
95 740i e38. non-dsp

first:

i get no sound from my speakers.
power is on, cd changer switches and MID shows all info but no sound. Sometimes id get an odd static noise if i have the radio on. odd enough i got it to work once by accident, but i could never get the stereo to play again.

there are wierd clicking/static noise coming from my heater control unit i dont know if thats relevant or not but it goes off after i turn it off and on again.

i did check the fuses, what now :S

up,

im leaning towards a fried AMP but not sure - some input would be appreciated,

also how do i know if my car has DSP or its non-DSP?

DSP amp is the bigger one and non-DSP is the smaller
also radio has DSP option on the deck
non-dsp amps are cheap at $50 and easy to find
DSP are harder and are known for problems.

how do i know for sure my car is non-DSP?

from what i understand from the manual DSP is the equalizer thingy next to the tape-deck(in my case) - i dont have it there a loose change compartment there instead.

from what i also understand its fairly easy(comparing to dsp) to upgrade a non-dsp e38 sound to custom aftermarket deck+sub+amp
- is that so?

Yours is a 95? you dont have an amp behind the cd changer? if so then its non dsp and it definately sounds like a fried amp. Take it to any car audio store im sure they can fix it easy. Aslo like you said the deck+amp+ sub is another easy option.

it was on the 1st page because of the bloody spammers, the mods must be off on holidays because a lot of spammers have been on MAX this past week.
