Help a noob with car selection!?

I've been looking to purchase my first bmw for a while and think i have found 1 that i am extremely interested in. Now i dont know what sort of things to look for and was hoping to get some feedback from this forum.

Im not really sure if this is the forum to do so but feel free to move my thread to the appropiate place please.

The salesman said it was an off lease with clean history and CarProof documentation. He also said he would give me a $1000 off if i purchased that same evening.

Looking at the BMW serivce records it says it was serviced at the following mileage (in km)

22983, 33437, 37676, 37735, 41673, 45613, 49589, 64520, 65855, 65855
67190, and 78630

Does that mean that the first oil change wasnt done till 22983 km?

Here is the link to the car.

Any helpfull feedback would be greatly appreciated!!!

take it to bmw and have it inspected

i know smg's are problematic in the m3's
and having it on a 330 is rare; so look into it

First, don't believe the 1000 dollar off if you buy tonight BS. That's just added pressure to make the deal that day, nothing else. They have about 2-3k markup in the car, so don't even put up with that. Get it inspected by BMW for one, make sure they do a full inspection of the car as well. Get the dealership to release the car as well. IF they won't release the car to get it inspected at BMW, eff them and go someplace else. That car is going to need maintainence at the 110-120km mark so realize that its not going to be cheap to drive in the next year.

get them to let the car be inspected by BMW or your mechanic.

The speedo is in KM, but I still think that is American car. Take a good look.

Ivan, what makes you say its an american car. Im pretty sure its not because the dealer showed me a carproof that says Ontario on it.

I know I am not that outgoing when it comes to local meets , but I never spotted SMG on a Canadian E46 non M. Pitch in if you have.
