For me, I just trust BMW. I know whatever they make is top notch. I like the 135i because its small and quick, the 335i because of the design (love the rear), and M3 because its an M3 haha. I think I made my choice, but I just wanted to get an idea of what other people think.

M3 the real deal

Quack 08-31-2009 07:48 AM

why did you choose such an old M3 for the poll, it's 6yrs older than the others & half the price, wouldn't you find a newer E46 M3 to compare with?

pawcio 08-31-2009 08:44 AM

i said 335i just because the M3 was an '03. nothing wrong with that but if money is not the issue then my vote sticks to the '09 335i. 135i is great i'm sure but i like that the 3 series is bigger. if it was a straight up vote tho, all the same model year, then M3 hands down.

white convertible m3... really? you need to ask?

europrince 08-31-2009 09:19 AM

335i is as quick as that M3. through a chip in and it's no contest. That M3 is now 7 years old, so like Quack says, it's apples and oranges.

you're truly on crack.

Down payment on the 335 is already half the payment of the M3. Depends on how much disposable income you have. If it were my choice in my current situation, I would pick the M3. I'm still getting a good car, but saving 30 grand. In a few years, that 335 will be a dime a dozen, but the M3 will still be an ///M. It may not be as fast as a 335, but is that much speed worth 30 grand? You can pick up an AA supercharger, be faster than 335, and still save yourself 20 grand. I prefer not to keep my cars stock so if I can invest some of the money I saved into mods, it's worth it.

The new 3s are a dime a dozen in my area (Yonge/Sheppard) already...but so are e46 M3s in both coupe and cab form. It seems to me that every 30 year old in my neighbourhood trying to be a player either has a e46 M3 or a 645 cab. A viable alternative to the $30k e46 M3 is picking up an '07 335 off lease at auction. They go for the low to mid 30s at auction currently. You've got a newer car with 1yr left in warranty.

if money wasn't an issue, why not the e9x m3?

i say the e46 m3. its half the price of the other 2. with the other $30,000 you save, theres your tires, suspension (cause you have to lower it) and other maintenance items and a couple trips.
