E36 engine problems
 

hey there guys.

my car has finally reached the 250,000km mark and slowly my motor is falling apart. I have a oil leak coming from somewhere near the bottom (seals by the oil pan) and. my tranny pops out of forth almost everytime.

I was wondering what the cost of a full engine rebuild would cost on a 1996 318is.

Personally I would not rebuild the motor. Just find yourself a good used 1.8Ltr with transmission for under $1500. I had a 1992 318iS that I sold to my friend. The car has over 400,000Km on the odometer and still running. Take it to RMP and have them do the swap.

Have them put an S52 in for you *th-up*

Do yourself a favour and upgrade to the S52...you will not regret it.

If that is a bit too expensive then go for M50/M52

We all apperceive that BMW E36 cars do accept some (or many) problems that you will accept to face eventually or later. I usually try to avoid them for a while, but acquisition myself clumsy to accumulate blank them anymore, so I alpha a attack to fix any problems that I see (or feel :-) ).
