Sea foam

alright people. i want to know what is the best product to clean out your entire engine. i hear that seafoam is the way to go. has anyone here used it? see any difference? when your done do you need to change the oil?

basically what im looking into is: i changed my oil before i stored my car so its sitting in fresh oil. i want to use that to my advantage before changing it ie cleaning all the gunk in and around there and then dumping the 100 bucks of oil.
i was thinking about even putting a litre of tranny oil in there to clear it out but i dont know about doing it to my bmw. ive done it to other cars and it works like a charm.

thoughts?

Depends where you put it i think they recommend 1/3 in the gas tank 1/3 in the oil and 1/3 sucked in. If you dont put any in your oil pan then your probably alright, although beware, sometimes seafoam works too good and cleans out carbon deposits that open all sorts of leaks up.

Agreed, and if your letting your BMW suck it up pour little at a time or else you can hydrolock your BMW and your engine = screwed.

i've used it, however I only put it in the gas tank and the intake manifold, i didn't put a 1/3 in the oil. I saw a little bit of white smoke and that was it. As far as feeling better, I really didn't see a large improvement. I will probably do it again sometime in the summer and throw some into the oil as well. I'm hoping to get the knocking gone, probably wishful thinking i won't lie

I heard that few days after you put sea form in your engine, you need to change your spark plugs and engine oil.

I pour 1 bottle into my gas tank and drove it. I can't really tell the difference but just feels better...

There is a video on e46fanatics.com. A guy let his e36 engine suck 1 bottle of sea form then his car produced lots of white smoke + bunch of error codes but I heard that is normal.
