how hard removing coilovers
hey i have bilstein pss9 on my e36 and wanna remove them how hard is it and what do i need
|
you can remove them with basic tools... wrenches, sockets, a jack, jack stands (very important)...
|
do i have to remove brakes or any thing
|
Don't need to remove brakes. On my E46, I had to remove the sway-endlinks, not sure if your E36 has it. Otherwise, if I remember, you remove the bottom bolt of the strut, one in the middle that connects to the sway link, and there's like 3-bolts at the shock tower that you have to remove as well. That should drop the whole unit off of your car.
As for the rear, you remove the top (where the rear shock mount is) and bottom bolt. You'll have to push the trailing arm (forgot the proper term) down and yank the spring out; should be easier since it's probably a shorter spring than OEM. |
Make sure you rent a spring compressor if someone didn't mention that yet.

he only needs a spring compressor if he's disassembling the unit...

Isn't he maybe I read it wrong... but okay.
