tons of small scratches...

So it seems some jackass decided to slide across my hood in a chain mail suit over the past week as I now have a million scratches from one side to the other. I'm wondering if a good polish and scratch fill would do the trick or am I looking for a repaint of the hood. There aren't any large gashes or anything but I can definately feel the scratches when i run my hand across the hood. Any kick ass scratch remover products out there? What a great surprise after fixing a smashed in window last week....

Run your finger nail across the scratches; if it catches, you'll most likely need to paint.
If not, you can cut and polish them out. Keep in mind some clear will be removed in order to smooth them out. Takes a couple hours to make it real nice. There are many products out there but these are professional products that are not available in stores. Personally I use Ferecla- yellow bottle, which body shops use. BUT one has to know how to use it and preferred experience. otherwise you can make it worse or even burn through the paint.
Trust me, I speak from personal experience learning how too. lol.

wetsanding might help get the deep scratches. Do you have pics? It's hard to tell just from words. Someone hit our old X5 in the bumper, I managed to get most of it out with wetsanding.
