Tragic loss of a good friend....

Well I lost another good friend of our family on Thursday night. Jim Shuttleworth was a local business owner and also a pilot who was really good friends with my father. He owned quite a few incredable planes, the best of which was a P-51 mustang. He purchased the plane back in 91 when it was just crashed after being converted to a reno air-racer. Spent the next few years restoring it compleatly back to original. This mustang was an amazing machine, not only was it the only current flying p-51 with a living figher ace, it was ranked in the top 10 for being the most successful figherplane during the war. I'm sure if any of you are into WWII planes you've seen or heard of Jim's Scat 7 (the planes name).

I've been flying since I was born, an have been in a plane accident myself when I was younger, but this last year we've lost 9 friends in accidents. I'm really thinking about hanging up my wings. The one thing that my father and I share is the love of flying. He restores antique and wwII planes as a hoby, and I am always right beside him working. Jim was not only a friend of my fathers, him and I were really close aswell. He's an older guy, but the age difference didnt' matter to him. We'd go out and fly on a sat. morning for a few hours together, than we'd both get in our bims and take a long drive. To make it worse, dad and I almost pulled out the T-6 and went up with him Thursday night as the weather was nice out and we havn't been flying for close to 2 months. Jim just had the itch to get in the air...

So if any of you out there are pilots, be careful. Even the best pilots in the world can't save a plane that has mechanical failer. Make sure you tell your loved ones everyday how much you love and care for them. Jim you will most definatlly be missed *sad* *sad* *sad*
