E39 question - 2000 to 2001 headlights

I picked up a set of 01-03 Euro OE Hella's for fitment onto my 2000 E39

Went to purchase this harness
http://www.eurosportdesign.com/pc-18...rness-kit.aspx
since the 2000's don't come with angel eyes from the factory and found out the two shipping options are...
FedEx International Economy $66.36
FedEx International Priority $80.35

Yikes! *shiner**sad*:(*thmbsdwn**no-no*:eek:

So I think I've found an equivalent on EBAY but I'm not sure.

Shipping is under $7USD but of course, he won't ship to Canada so I'd have to ask him to ship to a US border location where I can just go pick it up.

Shipping issues aside, does anybody know if the harnesses being sold by these two vendors are the same and will work for my purpose?

Well at least by the pictures it looks like both harnesses are made by the same manufacturer, but in terms of the mods that have to be done to the harnesses i have no idea.

Cool thanks. There's even this DIY but I'm not that adventerous.

Ideally though I'd find a vendor who can ship to me directly. Does anyone know of another vendor?

I believe this is an OEM part, you should check some BMW dealers like Tischer BMW.

see the link below, it tells your want you need to do and purchase, if the place you are buying the euro hella headlights have the adapter buy it from them, then make your own y adapter, the guy on ebay is charging too much for kit that cost 45 bucks, all he did was cut one end of the plugs and made it into a Y adapter that are used in cars in NA.

perhaps Mods can make the DYI link a sticky since this is the third time i think I've posted this link for fellow member.

Thanks for posting that link up.

I'll probably try to pick up those harnesses
* (Qty 2) P/N 63 12 0 025 497
* (Qty 2) P/N 63 12 0 025 499
from someplace other than the dealer (ie. like realoem.com) for some cost savings.

e46it 06-03-2008 04:00 PM

if you go with the route of buying * (Qty 2) P/N 63 12 0 025 497
* (Qty 2) P/N 63 12 0 025 499 just note that the oem harness on your car has to be cut off and replaced with these, i don't know how anal you are about cutting oem wires, I'm anal about it that is why i went with the hella kit. this way its a true pnp without making any modifications to the original wiring.

the hella kit part number is 8KB 157 198-801 see if ticher bmw or pacific bmw sell this. also another place i bought oem hella products was from http://www.puma-access.com/ they are authorized hella dealer and they do ship to Canada, call them and ask for Paul i dealt with him before and his was very helpful.

Thanks. Well the lights arrived and it actually came with the 8KB 157 198-801 kit you are referring to. Now I just have to spend some time and wrap my mind around what's going on...

e46it 06-05-2008 11:14 AM

then you are all set just follow the instructions on the link you previously posted #3 and you are all set, its very stright forword.
