Power Door Lock Actuator

My driver side door lock just quite on me today. I can lock the door with the key but I can no longer just press down door on the pin to lock it, it just stays unlock. I assuming it's the actuator, so I took off the door triming and try to take a look at it. I have no clue to what to look for. Has anyone done this DIY???

^^ my suggestion is follow the linkage from the pin or the keylock and i'll bet you will find the black box actuator. This also happened on my friends car (not a Z3) and found out that it was a broken torsion spring on the door latch assembly.. worth a lookie

This is for an e36, though the process should be the same: http://www.maxbimmer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=70460

So I finally gave it a try to replace the actuator. I got almost everything disconnect expect for one piece. I can’t get this pivot off the small link-rod that it is attach on. It looks like I have to remove the exterior door handle, which I been trying to figure it out. Is there any other way, without removing the exterior door handle? If not, can someone explain how? I hope the picture of the pivot makes it clearer.

there is an access hole on the door to remove the handle, it may be covered by a rubber seal.
