Hood Restoration

I have a Jet Black BMW and everything stands out on that color. The BMW hood had a lot of Oxidation from the sun as well as washing the car and swirl makes, nicks and so on. So it took me about 4.5 hours to get to what it looks like in the picture. It now has a mirror finish. I posted the before and after. If you would like to know what I used let me know and I will post the pictures as well as step by step instructions.

Cheers,

Hey;

Looks awesome. Although mine is grey and doesn;t show the imperfections as much, I'd love to know your process and products used to achieve such a beautiful finish!! Good work!!

As promised here are the products I used which you can find at Canadian Tire.

1. Wash your car with car soap.

2. Use Meguiar's Clay Bar make sure the surface is always wet and you ONLY go vertical up and down.

3. Rinse and wipe dry...apply Turtle compound scratch remover use a foam pad with your buffer and wipe with microfiber towels.

4. Add the Meguiar's Deep Polish buff with foam pad and wipe with microfiber towels.

5. After surface is wiped and clean add Meguiar's Ultimate Compound and Scratch X remover make sure to wipe clean.

6. Last but not least Mothers Carnauba Wax use a foam pad with your buffer and wipe clean with microfiber towels.

Thanks!

To clay the car properly I would say about 6-7 hours well that is just me because I am very picky with everything I see... =O)

what buffer machine did you use..

Any suggestions on a good quality one that wont break the bank?

The buffer I used craftsman car polisher from Home depot. I would Highly recommend Porter Cable Polisher 7424XP.

A good technique to buffering is never apply your body weight to the buffer and always use a S pattern or up and down side to side movements.
