is the clutch slipping?

Torontoe36 05-07-2014 01:49 PM

yes it is

Do this.

1) Valeo single mass conversion kit
2) New transmission fluid (Pentosin)
3) Rogue engineering transmission mounts.
4) Remove CDV, and install a clutch stop.

If you don't have any synchro issues, and your clutch is properly bled, you should have a night/day driving experience.

really? i think this car just needs a clutch.

cirrusblau 05-09-2014 10:04 AM

Probably just needs a clutch (plus pressure plate), but wouldn't hurt to do a few other things while in there. Maybe not the single mass conversion, but new fluid, shift linkage bushings, tranny mounts and driveshaft hardware would be what I would do. Good chance all those items are original and worn out.

ac_2007 05-09-2014 10:18 AM

You can't machine the flywheel on these cars, and if you don't replace it, that means going back in the transmission in the relative short term future.

The conversion is cheap and well reviewed, but to each their own.
