E38 Rim Offsets
Hey guys, a friend of mine is interested in my rims but we're not sure if they fit his car. I had them on my bro's 330ci and the offset was too aggressive so they rubbed. They are DPE's so they never release their offsets, but it looks to be around +33 - +35 in the rear, and front around +38 - +40 ... Would my friend need spacers to make these work on his E38? Is there a difference for the Li's and just the i's? and finally, would spacers be needed?

anyone have an idea?

E38s can handle in the 11-28mm offset range. 72.56mm hub.

ok thanks man... so if anything he MAY need like 5 mm's spacers?

Mystikal 07-04-2008 05:38 PM

Honestly, if they rubbed on an E46 coupe the offset has to be A LOT lower than 33-40 unless the tires are oversized.

I'm not a wheel expert, might want to post your question in the wheel section ... but yeah, that sounds like it might work.

Edit: I was thinking the same thing as Mystikal when I first read the post ... but again, no wheel expert.

K thanks guys, I was running 265's, and still am with the new rims (which are et38) and no rubbing issues now. We are going to test fit them tonight so hopefully they will work!

thanks again.

E38 guys running 265s are usually down in the ET15-20 range. You're probably need spacers, like 15-20mm all around.

Unless E38s have some huge inner clearance that I don't know about.

^k thanks, that's what I thought.

Michel 07-07-2008 11:34 PM

yup doesnt fit... the problem was that the rear hub is too big on the e38 for my rims.

Mystikal 07-08-2008 01:07 PM

Say what? No they're not. E38 hubs are the same as E46 (and everything else that isn't an E39 or second gen X5).

^pff thats wat the guy told me when he test fit 'em :| guess he had no other excuse to back out from the sale...

thanks for the info!

Mystikal 07-08-2008 04:15 PM

lol, yeah he's either a douche who can't mount wheels or a douche who uses lies to back of out deals instead of manning up and admitting he's a douche.

One more for fun: douche.
