Advice??? 2002 vs 2003 530i

I've always wanted a 2003 530i and have been looking for the "deal"
I have just recently found a 2002 530 with 130,000 kms for $13k

The 02 is one owner, driven by the wife, BMW serviced. I kinda like it...but had been thinking that the 03 was the best of breed for the E39 series.

Would anybody care to comment on the 2002 vs 2003 re features, reliability etc. Which is more desirable?

Thanks Dan

that is quite the deal....VMR has it at wholesale for 13.5K before any options and mileage adjustment.

I am no expert, but I don't think there is much difference between 01, 02, & 03 from a reliability perspective. The M54 makes good power and gets great mileage.

What does worry me is "BMW serviced." 25,000 KM between oil changes is too much. With my 530 at 20,000 KM the TBN was 1.6. (anything less than ~1 means the oil is used up)

The price sure is right for the 02

I don't believe there is any difference between the '02s and '03s.

wholesale prices are actually $8500-$9000.

I was just at a dealership and thats what wholesale was offering for a trade on my 02 530 with 160Ks.

hence, i didnt end up trading my car in...
