Need help!!!!
1 Attachment(s)
So the story is i was looking for another e30 for a daily driver and i happened to stumble by one on kijiji that didnt look too bad and was cheap. So i decided to go out and take a look at it by myself. I recently purchased an e30 and i had a good friend come with me(who knows alot about bmw's) and we looked a bunch of other cars before i bought one. So i figured after seeing a bunch of them i kinda had an idea on what to look for myself. Anyways i saw this car and took a quick glance at the body, hardly and rust, take a look under the drivers side, hardly any rust, so i figured thats all i need to see, i found a gem for a cheap price, not looking anywhere else on the car. So i get the car home have another friend to come over and take a look at my car to show off this awesome rust free find. He takes a look under the passenger side of the car, and my heart drops, this is what i find

Can I not cut that piece out and weld in a new one?

Yes, of course, but fitting it to be like the original (bending, etc) will be difficult.

Anyone on here that can do it?

There will be a lot more rust that that. I'd pass and find a cleaner car personally.

if the rest of the stuff looks good and runs fine I think you just got yourself a parts car/ engine development toy... but i guess tat depends what cheap was to you

Take a good luck and scout for more -- if that's all I wouldn't worry too much we've all had worse! Just don't jack right there lol and maybe look at welding a patch

Yeah a friend of mine is going to cut it out and weld in a new peice, does anyone know how thick of steel I should get to weld in?
