E39 Touring manual

Unicorns I tell ya.
Im looking for e39 touring with a manual trans... later model, 6 cylinder. M sport a + but not needed.

Ive toyed with the idea of auto but Id rather not. There are two up right now locally ,auto ,kind of eh condition and older. I doubt this will even help but I thought Id toss out a line and see.

Quack 09-13-2013 03:59 PM

what's your budget?, Fil(Eurostyle) is selling his E39 Wagon with S62 & 6speed swap, give him a PM.

SiR 09-13-2013 04:08 PM

ive pm'd him many times about tourings(since he has so many relatively speaking). He doesnt seem keen on pm'ing me back.

but I suspect his is way out of my price range....but some of the others he has kicking around could be viable.

thanks for the heads up.

Calling him multiple times is the best way to reach him. Keep calling until you get through.

SiR 09-13-2013 04:28 PM

thanks for the tip. Even if he has one that needs some massaging(within reason) to be worthy for the road Id probably be down if its manual and the right price. :)

he has a topaz blue one thats pretty hawt

SickFinga 09-14-2013 06:30 PM

You are right about the unicorn part. They are indeed very rare. Manual E39 Tourings were only available as 528i(1999-2000) and as 525i(2001-2003).

BMW built 740 528i and 570 525i for North America.
Canada got 22 528i and 12 525i.

As of right now, those 528i are in:

Alberta - 6
Quebec - 3
Ontario - 12 (1 Unrebuildable title, 1 Salvage)
BC - 1

525i are in:

Ontatio - 10 (1 Salvage)
Alberta - 2

You can also forget about factory M-Sport. On Tourings it was only available on 540i

shanehutton 09-14-2013 09:14 PM

I just bought one. :)
I guess I should hold on to it though.

How you come up with all that info is just :eek:*th-up*

But I gotta disappoint;
From the 12 528it's, we scrapped 3...so only 9 left. And from the 10 525it's, my mechanic has one, and we are parting another, so 8 left! *th-up*

So in total, I have about 1/4 of the Tourings in Ontario!!!:D

I didn't message back because they are WAY too far gone! Unless you want to put a ton of $$$ into them, and at that point might as well buy a clean 540it...Seen a few in the $10K range, and its worth it IMO, they might even go up in price in the next few years when they get impossible to find!!!*wave*

I figured as much but how gone is gone? I really think you are my only hope to find what I am looking for.

Im a handy gent and wouldnt mind something that needed some work. Really anything I buy will likely need some bushings here and there anyways(among other stuff). Obviously a running car with engine and trans thats still there would be what I am after if you have something...with 17 kickin around another car that can run shouldnt be hard to find/put together?

10k is really more than I am wanting to spend. And as mentioned Id rather have a 6 cylinder with the manual compared to a 540 auto...ya I know v8's are win but Id just rather have the 6 for cost of running, ease to wrench on etc.

I dont NEED m sport...I really just want the m5 steering wheel. Id prefer the 525i MY02/03.

Pretty easy. Archive of BMW build sheets + Autocheck does wonders :)

525i Touring with a regular Sport Package did come with the M5 steering wheel.

8 out of 12 Canadian 525i Touring had Sport Package

SiR 09-16-2013 09:59 AM

So there it is.

How far is too far gone? I realize your business is to part out cars...but with tourings being a limited run how many folks are buying touring parts when there arent that many out there?

Yes I know many parts are identical to the sedan but with you hoarding that many tourings :) there has to be a few in there that arent that far off from being usable/"sellable".

525it with a manual and sport package. <3

SiR 09-17-2013 11:41 AM

:( :( :(

Could I come out and see you what have?

Quack 09-17-2013 12:39 PM

man just saw a very mint 2001+ silver 540i wagon M-Sport, now I really want to get back into a E39.

:D:D

bmwm5lover 09-17-2013 05:51 PM

So I should start buying the tourings that pop up eh? I've let 2 go so far, one was sahara beige on tan.

there is 1...
no title
front damage
525it
for sale this week at Hamilton Impact
I hope its not gonna go for parts...

SiR 09-23-2013 10:14 AM

http://www.impactauto.ca/runList?act...ckNumber=JDE04

that may be beyond what Id consider "reasonable" repair.

That's automatic though

jduffett 09-26-2013 01:28 PM

Go to the US... I just brought one back from CO. They're still hard to come by, and you still pay a premium, but your chances are a lot better than here.

SiR 09-27-2013 11:19 AM

Id rather not go to the US...however of course I have checked out there market. Its slim pickings too.

^^^How the hell did you get this just from the ad!!! lol

BTW, another 525ita will be available soon. Small rear end damage, looks like a clean car (Silver on black, non sport, auto.) Its the 3rd in the last few weeks...Not sure how many good ones will be left at this rate! lol

Communicated with the owner telepathically. :D

Seriously though, there are not that many 528i/5 in Titanium Silver on Black and this one is registered in Port Hope like the ad states.

thanks for the link. I got the notification in my email for it.

400k though...lol...I may check it out , even though it falls outside what I really want(01+ m54 manual car)

what do you mean available? to buy or just something else you are parting out ..if parting out, that information is meaningless in here and youre just trolling :P

shanehutton 10-06-2013 08:44 PM

I have a 2000 528 with only 150k you can have for $10k. *par-t*

Well....Since the ones we parts are NOT available, this one would be to buy I assume! Not my car, or any relation to it. Will post more info when it becomes available.

Fil, I moved your question to another thread so we don't hijack this one

why would I pay double what its worth? :moon:

and I look forward to the info on the 525it. thanks

shanehutton 10-07-2013 10:45 AM

I like the little moon guy.

It's worth whatever you think it's worth as I assume there aren't many in it's condition left. Either way, I'm happy and it would just leave me with impure thoughts surrounding E34 M5s and E36 4DR M3s. :D

windwagen 01-03-2014 10:59 PM

Hey guys... I just stumbled on this thread. I bought the 400k beast. Neat to see the build sheet here. FYI...Prolly the only thing that didn't need attention was the motor. It does need vanos seals since the idle is "impatient" during warm up. It hasn't stalled at all and is super smooth when cold and warmed up.

I made a post about my winter beater pix here http://www.maxbimmer.com/forums/show...=68226&page=19

I'll start a thread with the gory details of the semi rebuild. I spent about 2 weeks on this car and spent about 1500 on it on top of purchase for 1600. For now I have to do a nice cream run with the kids... In this weather! ....we're driving the touring...hit 410,000 km today!

windwagen 01-04-2014 12:35 AM

Here's my new post... it's long, I hope you appreciate this thing!!!

shanehutton 01-07-2014 01:30 PM

I guess my offer of 10k was too low. ;)

bmwm5lover 01-07-2014 05:26 PM

Wow, people are really out to lunch, eh?

windwagen 01-07-2014 11:35 PM

Maybe I should flip mine! For 12k, I could think of a lot more unique rides....

Crustashio 01-08-2014 08:20 AM

There are plenty of reasonably priced 528 tourings in the states. As usual, canadian sellers far overvalue what they have. 5-7k seems to be the range for a pretty good (but not perfect) 528it manual. You could probably pay someone to do the shipping/importing and still come in way below that hilarious 12k one.

Some already sold, but examples from the past year on BFc alone with a 2 minute search:

I'm planning to get one myself this year and I'm not even bothering to look in canada. The e39s don't quite have the cult pricing that the e46s are starting to see now.

Thanks for this!! I am definitely picking one up from the US now. Selection of well cared for cars is much better and pricing is fair even with exchange, duties, taxes etc. I am not in a huge rush so I will keep my eyes open on the forums as well as ebay and Autotrader (US version).

Cheers!
