Code O1 Delivery Controller

Just added a 1999 323i to the stable. Within the first 24 hours of ownership the water pump let go and was replaced. Later that evening the CEL came on. Code read misfire cyl 1. Swapped coils from Cyl 1 & 2 and reset CEL. Light came on again and this time the code is 01 Delivery Controller. I can't find anything on this code. Can anyone shed some light on it or could it just be a symptom of something else, bad coil, etc. Thanks!

Delivery controller? What type of code reader do you have that mentions that? Time for a better one!

Not meaning to rub salt on your wounds but I think I know why the previous owner got rid of it. My BMW breaks down so often, its not even funny.

If you know how to safely test a coil pack you might want to try that, if not, it could be several possibilities. Start with the basics first

As the cleared code came back last night, we used our better code reader this morning which gave me Misfire cyl #2. As we had swapped #1 & #2 coils earlier, we put a new coil into #2. So far the drive home 80kms and no CEL light on the dash.
Rockerguy, we sold my wife's 2002 325xi a few weeks back as it was starting to develop a real taste for oil, one zenon was intermittent and I think one front driveshaft was going to be soon due for replacement. It did have 380,000 kms on it and had been very reliable. That said, we've owned six BMW's and when people kid me about the reliability of my Land Rover, I do say, wait 'til you own a Bimmer :)
