I just got another 1990 325i yesterday and i started it up today after removing a hackjob of an alarm system and the car just died....started it again ran ran ran and then died. when i pressed the gas it wanted to shut off and the lights dimmed...is this the alternator because yesterday after running for a bit the battery died aswell. and when i give gass the lights become brighter

Sounds like a good bet. Remove it and have a shop test it for you.

dam, i charged the battery, and it starts nicely and then just dies! but now it seems as tho the fuel is cut off... can this have something to due with the alarm i took out?

:) lets just say i feel like a tool.i was freking out thinking that something was wrong with fuel pump and the alarm system i took out. the gas gauge wasnt showing empty, or flashing that i need fuel but...that was the cas.dont mind me or dont make fun, i feel like an idiot as it is. and at the same time the battery was low and so i thought the reason for it dying was a bad alternator.
