BMW's are meant to be driven.
tested in colder climates then here so why not.
only problem is the stupid salt.
going to be driving very seldom in the winter.

I had mine out 2-3 times last winter....oh what a feeling *love*

BMW downgraded to Winter Beater Status. Snows are on and am ready for Winter.

Don't really want to keep the car anymore, and no one seems to care that the car was never winter driven. I'm just going to drive it. Itís a shame as the car is just perfect still, inside and out.

My e30 is done for the year, its just sitting on my driveway since last week...I'm still looking for somwhere to put it, thats cool and dry and safe in the winter. I would like to keep it @ home so i can tinker with it over the winter but I dont think thats possible. My mom wants our garage/tent thingy for the winter so she doesn't have to brush off her car when it snows in the morning. Beater mode is in full effect:)

My E46 vert and my 93 K75S are tucked away and the 91 318is is out for the winter months. The e30 is in such good shape that I feel guilty driving it in the snow - it was the baby till I got the convertible - now its the bitch. The semi-annual shuffle of the cars is wearing me down - living in the beach I don't have any parking, never mind convenient winter storage. I'm seriously thinking about trading the toys in (except maybe the bike:cool: ) on something a bit more "practical" that I could drive all year - say a 6 speed 2003 540 or a 530 xi. I also like the idea of a Mini Cooper S Works edition but it may not be the best in winter... I'm getting old.

The Z3 is in the underground for the winter (unless I sell it). The cover goes on tonight, as I washed it yesterday and want to let the top dry fully.

Got the winters on the E60 yesterday - didn't even know they were calling for snow tonight. Maybe I timed it really well for a change.

The (newly acquired) MB SL500 will get put away within a week or so, once I get all the import paperwork/inspection completed. The hardtop and it's newness to me may extend its' season a bit.

I volunteer to be the one you can all have a laugh at :D

My E30 is out every day on fresh new BFGoodrich all seasons. Grip is great so far - the back goes out nice and gracefully exactly when i make it.. What a storm trooper!!

I keep it in the garage overnight - so it starts every time.. and runs like a dream. Also changed the sealed beams last night (my first time) ..Easy as pissing in the snow.

Probably get winters in January before the real cold arrives.

My Range doesn;t get driven in the winter months either. The Volvo got the winters on.

So whats the point of having an SUV if you can't drive it in the winter?!? If I had a Range it would be my winter car for sure, unless it sucks in snow, which would be ridiculous!

You are right, but:
1) I don't want it rusting.
2) I don't want some idiot rear ending me, or side swiping me, or T-Boning me, thus totalling/Damaging my truck.
3)I don't take kindly to 100$ fill ups every few days.

I understand exactly where your coming from Those are the exact same reasons I don't drive my Navigator to often in the winter or let alone any season.. I only drive it when the entire family has to go somewhere together... . Wife and I and my 3 kids.

common you guys don't be such jews, life's too short to be storin your suv's for winter *thmbsdwn*
bmw5, I've seen your range, it ain't that new and bling, I wouldn't be too worried about those things, plus you can always get undercoating for the rust, and gas wasn't an issue in the summer so all of a sudden now its too hard on ur pocket? lol

i still have insurance on the E46 M3 cabrio. sitting in the garage, I haven't driven it for 2 weeks now, ARGH... it needs an oil change, and I have to pump up the 19's to high PSI... I'm debating whether to store it and put it on a trickle charger for the winter, and not take it out at all. and keep a car cover on.

or just bring it out on nicer winter days and drive it around the block a couple times a month? Not sure what to do.

The ZHP 330ci is my winter beater for another few days. I have the ZR 255/35/18's on! LOL not very good winter beater. Trading it in for an X5 this week hopefully.

Overinflate the tires and part the car on some foam (or a few layers of cardboard).

A car cover would also help.

Mine's away. Officially. It's been in the garage since the snow started flying but I kept hoping it would all melt. I've been wrong so far.

Just topped it up with gas, needs a good cleaning and then I'll disconnect the battery until April. *sniff* The beater just isn't cutting it unless there's snow on the ground!
