Hey,

First post here...but I recently imported a ZHP (just finalizing the steps of getting it registered now).

A couple quick questions:

1) My car had bottomed out previously, and there is a slight scrap on the undercarriage of the car. Its scrapped past the rust coating, to the metal of the frame (but no replacement needed)....will this be a problem with rusting issues?

Should I get this part recoated? If so, is this covered under warranty or not?

2) If I get the car serviced at an indy shop (ie./ Bimmersport), will that void my warranty?

Thanks in advance....

I've attached a pic below:

Just go to Crappy Tire or Princess Auto or something, but a spray can of rubberized undercoating and spray away. Does a good job.

Bimmersport does the undercoating. I did it this summer.

what price range did you pick it up for?

I should be looking down south for something come spring.

Thanks guys,

I picked her up for $28k, am still in the process of finalizing it. Total price will be about $32k CAD. I'm happy considering it only has 56,xxx km on it (34000 mile).....and has warranty till 2011.

So if I take the car to bimmersport for inspections/oil changes....will that be okay on the warranty?

If it's down to the metal, you should get that area cleaned up a bit, remove any surface rust that might have formed.

Then put some good primer on it, and paint the area. Colour won't matter, just put some paint on the areas where metal is showing.

Then, the canadian tire undercoating should be applied. Rust proofing is a bit different than the undercoating.

If you just undercoat it now, without preparing the area, you're just covering an area that will continue to rust underneath.

Thanks for the tips and compliments guys, much appreciated.

kevin, it does have the red needles, and the 6800 redline limit bc its the US model. Only downside is, mph is predominant. I don't have any shots of the cluster yet, but I'll take some this weekend.

Congrats, nice car. Enjoy.

I get my regular service done at bimmersport and have never had any problems getting warranty work done at the dealer ( when my car was still under warranty).

Awesome deal and colour...............
I love seeing our Canadian car dealers just sitting there and eating it while we go across the border for better deals *wave* .....you want our $$$, then show us your best deal........

BTW, Alaric...did you drive it over or get it shipped??

So, for those that import a BMW from the US, that is still under warranty, any issues on warranty claims in Canada?

Do canadian BMW dealers honour the warranty?

Thanks guys, I plan on taking more pictures tomorrow if the weather's right.

NIMA, I drove the car over, best way to get to know your car. Unfortunately, I had a hard time finding the M Performance package over here, although I did find a handful of the sport packages. The price disparity is just far too great, making the whole trip worthwhile.

dtthiaga, the warranty is still honoured here. The only thing that wouldn't have been, would be the maintenance plan.

BMW will still fully honor warranty in Canada if the car is bought from the US? I thought that wasn't the case? Do you have confirmation that the warranty is fully valid?
