Grandfather wanted a new car, so I picked up a new car for him down here in sunny Florida. It is a 2008 Lexus ES350 Premium Plus Nav. My mother already has an 07 ES350 Ultra Premium, so it wasn't a hard decision. Anyways, enjoy the pics, the first one is an SC in front of one of the dealers waterfall walls.

M5?

I dont think you realize the price difference... Also, this car is for my grandfather. He is 78 years old. I dont think an M5 is suitable.

Is it just a 4-seater? I don't see an additional belt clip for a 5th middle person.

You can clearly see three red belt release mechanisms in the picture. I guess its tucked away

You mean that one sticking out in the middle of where your ass goes is a seatbelt release?

yup. always were, always will be. its the only front-drive lexus. shares a platform with the toyota camry, but thats about all. the rest is all lexus. engine, transmission, interior... all lex.

beautiful cars, but personally, i love the GS.

my fav lex of all time is the SC400, the predecessor to the current SC430. it's what i'm driving now, and i freakin' love it. sick car. they made them from 92 to 99, and in 96 they got vvt-i.

can't wait to see the 2-door IS and GS models that are rumored to be coming.

Pretty sure the engine/trans is the same, maybe some tuning "tweaks" to make the HP look better.

The ES and Camry share the same basic platform, but that is pretty much where the similarities end. You can tell the difference between a fully loaded Camry and the base model ES blindfolded- both in the drive as well as the interior materials.

Same goes for the Sienna, Avalon, Highlander and RX350- they all share the Camry's basic platform, but each have a character of their own.

Totally agree with this. I've driven all the cars listed, as I have done autoshows for Toyota in the past, as well as worked in a dealer. The camry is nice, but the ES beats it in all aspects hands down. Also, comparing the highlander to the RX is the same thing. My father has an RX400h and it is TOTALLY different than a Highlander Hybrid.

Nice car for a older dude. On the young side, I think I would get bored quick with it.
