the Center Bearing mount failed on my 325is so I figured i might as well swap the diff too..from my ix to my is..

just wondering if this is a direct plug n play or if there's anything i should be aware of....do i use the ix driveshaft? or just the is one? etc..any other shi$ i should take care of while i've got all that taken apart? i'm going to paint the diff with some black rust paint too probably..just cuz

thnx in advance

ps..I lost the DIY I had for removing the diff..anyone have one handy?

uh..says here the final drive is the same...excuse my mechanic noobness...
whats the benefit of swapping the diff to an ix diff?

Generally speaking people regard the ix differential as a downgrade. It uses a viscous coupling instead of the usual clutch style found in the other e30 differentials.

i'm a little confused then...are people not swapping ix diffs into their e30's? or am I confusing which e30s would want an ix diff.?

What NickP is saying basically is it sucks. Try finding your self a S3.73 (if you dont already have one) or if you wanna have extra fun+consumption, grab a S4.10 diff.

ok so keep my 325 stock diff...it clunks sometimes putting it into first (maybe second too at very slow speeds)
think there's a bit of a hum or buzzing too..a friend recommending changing the fluid..

fixable? or swap it with my donor 325is's diff?

Your donor's 325is' diff would be a better choice
