Hey guys, ive been toying with the idea of transplanting an M3 S54 or even the V8 from the E39 M5 into my E46 chassis and i was wondering if anyone on board knows a shop/dealer that can install/deliver a crated engine with the whole shabang such as ECU, motor/tranny mounts, transmission, etc. Also
i wanted to know if there are any furthur modifications to the
chassis/exterior/interior required to make such transplants.:)

If anyone has any other suggestions for a different engine transplant please chime in as im open to any ideas at this point*wave*

that's a S38 motor(3.6/3.8 inline6), not the S62(5.0 V8), S38 in a E30 has been done to death, I've seen a few of them here in Toronto.

I've seen a E46 touring with a S62 motor, it looks like a perfect fit, but I don't really know how much modification it took to sqeeze it in there, but it is possible.

I think RMP can tackle this project, just contact Rocco, all that matters is just the time and the dough. Nothing will stop you. :D Id love to see this kind of project in the GTA. Do it Kev!

Kev, paint the trunk first. We'll take about the transplant later :D

(I'm one to talk with having an automatic tranny :()

i was talking about painting all but that CSL lip part of the trunk as I mentioned in the other thread - it would accent his front lip PERFECTLY!

We can do it!!!:P LOL

We are in the middle of an LS1 into a e36 and its almost finished! The custom headers are done, and we have to wire it up!

I think the e39 M5 engine would be great, or even just the 4.4-4.6L V8!

Wow

$20,000 JUST for the install price sounds pretty pricey don't you think? Can you guys let me know if this a little pricey or not for a motor Swap?

That plus the engine or that includes the engine? Dont you think ud be better off selling your car now and buy a new one?

That kind of pricing is a ballpark, after getting a M5 engine, wiring (or standalone) transmission, custom drive shaft, custom mounts, cooling parts, labour etc.

Ask Notjoe what a custom engine swap cost, once you start the $$ adds up. People pay in the range of 4000-6000 for a M3 engine and transmission installed in a e36 and that is a straight swap!

That was a ballpark figure....
