Someone on this board had both a 2JZ and rb26dett ready to be dropped into there e36. They didn't go through with it though :(

i was thinking of doing it, but im not sure if its worth the money. A 1jz would be able to handle 400hp reliably. Heres a vid of an e36 with a 1Jz in it for anyone whos interested.

turbo an alloy block m50.

the JZ weights quite a bit since the block is very heavy, a fully dressed JZ-GTE is in the 600lb range, little bit less if its the R154 tranny with the 1JZ. The only way I can think of it being useful is if you have a e36 chassis sitting there, you got a 2jz for dirt cheap and you have the mechanical know how. I like how a 1JZ sound, but the JZs are tall ass motors, and they need to sit straigh up unless you modify the oil sump.

used to be a place in BC that did it, k-something motorsports. From my understanding they don't do it anymore.

Standalone + custom motor mounts + custom tranny mounts + driveshaft seems to be the formula.

It seems people with some money to drop are leaning towards the LS1 swap instead of the 1J or 2J out of the Supra.. But do you really want a basterdized car? I'd probablly do it if I had the cash.. LS1 that is:)

I've been dreaming of an S54 with a Vortech but those LS1 conversions are damn appealing.

i know its against everything about bmw to drop another make of engine in it. but in the end, power is power. Sometimes it jus take more money with some engines than others. You can make 400hp reliable hp with a 1J and thats the most i'll ever need on the street.
