Im thinking of getting rid of the M3 and the new X5 might be the ticket. I would get it with a V8. Anyone here have one, what are your thoughts?

Kewl,
Im looking at
1. Fully loaded V8 X5. Perhaps with the M package, if its out.
2. Cayenne GTS
3. Audi S6 if I dont get a SUV.
4. Ranger Rover Sport Supercharged.

If I do get something new, I will be around January, so I have some time, and hopefully I will be buying in the US since I will be living back in the US in 2008.

you probably won't need all the things on a fully loaded X5, e.g. Rear DVD.

But one thing you absolutely have to get is comfort seats (Same ones that come on the 7 series)

The X5 also will come with soft close doors for 08 (also on the 7 series)

Semi fully loaded then, ya, i don't want the rear DVD.
I like the option of the 3rd row seating also.

The RRS looks great, but I got some reservations about it.

My boss has a black on black X5 4.8i and I drive it every now and then. I really have nothing bad to say about it, it has the power when you need it and its a smooth and comfortable ride. The knob thing gets annoying to use (iDrive I think it's called, w.e.) so I just use the steering wheel controls. Luggage room is ample! and the rear seats fold down so you can carry the odd large objects if needed. Don't know about gas consumption, but seeing as it's a V8 I would never buy one, I'm fine with my 4 bangers.

EDIT: it is fully loaded, the reverse guidance mode is really cool but don't rely on it to reverse park. The stock speakers (Boss I believe?) are great.

also take a look at the 3rd row seating before you get it. It's pretty useless unless you have kids, the seats are so small.

Thanks for the input.

The 3rd row seating is tight, but its nice to have if you need it.

What's a Cayenne GTS? I wouldn't get a RRS, my friend has one, it's cool, but I'd much rather get a cayenne over all those cars, second being the 4.8

RRS if it was still built by bmw. But now it's Ford. Did you see the interior? it's a downgrade from the old ones.

Fully loaded its over $100,000.... I just don't think a BMW suv is worth that.
For that kinda cash I'd def. be checking out Porsche and RR

If you need the SUV, I'd get the Cayenne. However, I would lean more towards the S6. That vehicle is just a BEAUTY! (assuming you are buying the new ones)

I absolutely adore the new Audis!

The GTS was just introduced, it slots inbetween the Turbo and the S models. 400HP, PASM suspension and its a little lighter. No pricing on it yet, but you can check it out on porsche.ca.

I don't mind the interior to much actually. But the RRS is a little small in the back seat, and reliability is a hit or miss with Rover. I love the exterior though.

I thought about it, for the price, its a good buy actually in comparison. BUT, I hate the interior and the styling is iffy IMO.

The S6 is gorgeous, and will do everything I need except the extra room is nice to havce, especially since Im gonna be moving around a lot. If I go car, its def on the top of my list. They are so much cheaper in the US also.

I think the X5 and the RRS are nicer looking then the Cayenne though. But I bet it drives and handles great for big heavy car. Its also not that roomy compared to the X5.

did you do an 08 or 07? because for 08, they changed up some of the options. Some of the options are now standard too.

it's 07. So the 08 could actually come out to less, depending on what you want.

they're still selling 07 models, so I guess not until the 08's are being released, I guess they'll update.

I've driven both. I would have to say that the V8 has that extra something special.

I think next year they're gonna release the 3.0 turbo model. Not 100% on that though.

The V8 comes with valvetronic, so it's also better on gas believe it or not.

STALKER

I would def get the V8 if I get the X5.
In the US they start at $55Gs, in Canada at $73Gs. We get more standard features in Canada, but I will have to price it out while Im in Miami for a few months and just see how big the savings are. I know there is a huge price diff on Cayennes and RRS from the US to Canada.

if you're gonna buy the car, I would definately get it in the states, I'm sure you'll still save up to 10 grand.

Any other info from ppl that own or have experience with the new X5?

I think Im 80% sold on it, but that means Im gonna have to sell the M3.
