Well, I wasn't planning on picking up an M untill the spring as I didn't want to buy one and put it in storage right away, but I stumbled across this in Auto Trader. There isn't much info in the description but judging from the picture it looks like it's been well taken care of. I'm going to call the person tomorrow and find out more about it.

What do you think about the price?

very interesting, I never seen that colour combo, especially on a E36 M3 4dr, it would be nice to get the VIN to confirm this car is legit.

Yea, I think they'd be asking more for it if it's not legit because they would have had to put a tone of money into it to get it to look like that. Anyone know if there is a code in the VIN the shows it's a real EVO? Also, what does an EVO have that a regular M doesn't? I know more HP, but how much more?

I need to call them first, and with this shitty weather I doubt they'll want to take it out for a drive today.

Looks to me to just be a regular US/CAN spec 4 dr M3 with a set of aftermarket rims. All US spec 3.2L motors are identical 240HP motors.

Interesting color combo though.

Just talked to the guy, a bimmer head, which is a plus. Apparently the car was brought over from Germany to the US, then brought to Canada. Everything is in miles. It's a 5 speed, 115K miles which is 185 and a bit Km's, never winter driven, some of the basic maintenance done (ie. struts, some bushings). I'm going to go look at it tomorrow, then getting a Carfax done which should shed some light on things.

Even if it is just a US/CAN spec. M it's still a good price if its in pretty good condition. And he said it's technoviolet, which is pretty cool.

Sounds like a nice car, but I'm still skeptical. I believe all German cars are in KM/hr and not miles. Also, you should not be able to import a eurospec BMW into canada until it is 15 years old. I think its even longer in the US. I wonder if it is a BMW individual and the first owner took the european delivery option? A BMW individual would likely explain the unique color combo. When you go look at it, you should be able to quicly figure it out. The euro spec engien will have the 6 individual throttle bodies where as the US spec on will have a single one. Also, the door jam will say if it is a US spec vehicle.

Pricing is pretty resonable for a US spec car...If its got the euro motor (which I doubt) it is a steal.

Keep us posted.....

i was M3 shopping a few months back and I'm pretty sure this car was for sale then. If its so great - why is it still for sale?

Us car? 185,000km? Its a 12 grand car.

Why not take your 18 grand and fly down to florida or Cali or somewhere and buy a nice 99 M3 Cabrio with like 110,000km on it?

If it's just a US spec thats been imported it's really not worth it, although the colour combo is sweet. Then again, there isn't much out there in the Canadian market that worth looking at for less than $20K so..... I'm supposed to be going to look at it tonight so i'll get the VIN and run a Carfax which should clear things up. I'll definately check the throttle bodies, I didn't know that about the Euro spec. motors.
