Three or four times since I got this 540i (99 540i) it displayed message on OBC in German (last time was uber or something like that plus another word), any idea why it would do that (homesick)?:)

Everything is in English, all OBC messages, this only happened 3-4 times in the last 15 months. I'll pay attention next time and remember what it says..

Does is say "Überraschung"?

It was two words..damn i wish I remembered what it was, but any idea WHY there would be messages in German? Something equivalent of easter eggs in OS or..?

My guess is that they just didn't translate every single message.... and that this was some obscure message. Maybe the message is stored in the ECU, so have someone scan it if u know anyone that can do that for u for free.

Thats what I was going to say, I think the whole ECU is messed, you should sell it. Na, I think it would be something like they forgot to translate everything. That is definately weird though.

The thing is that all 3-4 times it happened message was displayed for 2-3 seconds and then went away.
