I'm so happy it's all over, lol.

Hope you like the video, now that it's done I have a lot of small issues to tidy up and then I'll clean and shine it as best I can.

Now I'll keep up with you guys at the next meet. ;)

good job man...is it the engine out of your e30 or the one I sold you?

Time for a new tach. Welcome to the club.

It's the 325e from the 85', had a valve job done, head was decked, ported the intake side. Everything up top including the 173 motronic from the 88/89 325i.

I still need to wire up an O2 sensor, it's in open loop for now.

Has some serious torque, and of course as we speak the 7k tach is in, just need to tap a few wires.

It really does have a nice grumbly sound.

what does the 88/89 ecu do.??

08-28-2007, 08:52 PM
Well the 1.3 motronic is more adaptive, has less crap: No cold start injector, 2 less pickups on the thermostat housing, and the harness for the injectors although a trouble spot for corrosion, is easier to disconnect/reconnect.

Aside from that, the rev limit is now 6300/6400? can't recall (not used to the I car) lol. This should be done if you are using the I cam, and intake, it needs everything to work right. (relatively right.... ahem...)

Just went for a 50km drive, lol the exhaust is rattling now, must have blown it loose. The thing has an EVIL growl I'm not even exaggerating.

I was doing 60, dropped back into 3rd and was going 120 in i'd say less than 3 or 4 seconds before i popped it in 4th. This thing is way faster than a 325e stock.

anything is faster than a 325e. lol.

Wanna race?

It should be faster than a stock-ish 325i. The two I've run against were quite a bit slower.

With a piggyback ecu, it would really let the potential loose. Looking at an smt 5 or 6, easier to wire than the MegaSquirt.

I'm just so happy with the sound...

I peeled rubber shifting into 2nd and that's with a 2.93 diff. LOL The guy beside me must have shit his pants, when i let off the gas sometimes I get small backfires, not sure why yet... i think maybe it's running on the rich side as I don't have an O2 sensor installed yet.

I'll keep u posted on how it runs, and i'll mst likely be at any e30 meets, I have to concentrate on the asthetics now dents scratches rust.

all the etas are disappearing.

I dont get it, whats a 327i??????????

I dont get it, whats a 327i??????????

As you probably know etas have a 2.7L m20, you take the eta block and bolt on the 325i head including intake manifold, throttle body etc. So you keep the 2.7Ls of displacement but you can rev to 7K with a cam that can work with it.

One less eta here as well, I'm running a Turbo Diesel crank, eta rods and pistons with 325i topend. Pulls pretty good, running on megasquirt. Will be turbo next year. I still had my 2.79 rear end in when I got this running, 1st gear ended over 80, second gear close to 150 lol, never tried third. Just put in a 3.73 LSD and it's so much better now.

It was fun taking off from a light in first with the 2.79, get a burst of torque off the line then it bogs a bit around 2K rpm then starts pulling hard around 4K till 6500 and your going 80.

Now it's very gradual, burst of torque off the line and oh shit the gear is done, shift to second and chirp like crazy look like an idiot and put it in 5th. :D
