Looks like the beast needs a new battery...Not sure if it's even been replaced by the previous owner (doesn't say anything on top), and I've had the car for 2 1/2 yrs, and lately it's been starting but it's almost like it barely turns over...Today I tried and all I got was starter clicking....

Little boost and off I was...

Now, is it worth getting something other than OEM?
And where to get it from??

Opinions/experiences?!?!

I've been using a Optima yellow top for awhile now, so far so good, cost me $200.

no it doesn't fit ok in the 540, you won't be able to close the cover properly unless you modify it.

are modifications needed for every non-OEM battery, or do some of them actually fit OK?
what do you need to do to fit the YT?

sorry, got all these questions...*shiner*

$100 installed... 3 years warranty.

I think you can order one from CT. ($150ish) they give you great warranty.

Optima yellow top <-- expensive but not sure what is the benefit of getting those.

I think you will get tons of info about the battery. Just type "battery" in the search.

some of them do fit like OEM, it just happens that the battery post on the yellow top is slightly off-center.

yellow tops are meant for cars too...they're just the deep cycle version of the red tops. Blue tops, IIRC, are for marine use.

yellow top is the only battery i will run in any car.. mainly because i had both my stangs in FL once and my buddy was driving one back and I was in the other. My alternator blew in Georgia at 2am.... We drove all the way back to Toronto by simply swapping Optimas every 3 hours all the way home. Drove with lights on, stereo etc for 3 hours at a time.. swapped batteries when we would stop for gas and still had enough juice to start the car! Amazing batteries!
