Heres the dilly
I have a e30, it just turned 20 and I need insurance. I got a quote for a 92 protege for $230 a month but the quote for the e30 is $500 a month. I know someone on here knows a way to help me out. If anyone knows any numbers of brokers or anyone on here is a broker pass them on.

HELP!

Thanks
Sam

Hub International.
905-459-4000

Call them up, and toss them your stats. They'll provide a quote for you.

I called Hub a while ago, they quoted me at $540 a month which is rediculous and more then I make per month. Mind you they guy I was talking to sounded like he had no clue.

I talk to the girls there, they seem to have more brains over there.

Did he tell you which insurance company they had based that price on? Because when I was 20, I was paying 400 for my 1992 325is

Ugh, I don't want to pay more than 300 a month. I might have to put it under my moms name or something. I hate being 19.

do you have a bad driving record or something?

I'd drive the 92 protege, until your insurance goes down.

The Protege is sold, I have an at fault accident almost 3 years ago. The thing is, why the hell does the insurance rate double just because the car is older and just hit the 20 year mark?

Oh yea, I know why, insurance companies are gold digging heartless bastards.

are you basing your comparasion on what you were paying before the accident when you had the protege?

Insuranace obviosly knows about your at fault accident, hence the reason why you can't get cheaper insurance. Even if you had a 92 protege now u'd probably be paying more.

No, that was a quote last month! When I had my G2! So basically, since the car is older then the protege, they double my rate. I'd go with belair (who gave me the protege quote) but they won't insure a car that is over 19 years old.

I think your only hope is to get fake ID and tell them you're 25 and female. Considering your age and record, you're likely S.O.L.

I think there is a price drop at 21 and 25.

Really, you should never purchase a car without first checking insurance. Always check before you buy.

If you have an at fault accident, or ticket, it is usually cheaper to stay with your current insurance company, rather than switching. You'd be a bigger risk for a new insurance company, and thus a higher rate.

Try "ING" related insurance companies. They can be cheaper at times.

Try http://www.insurancehotline.com

I've gotten all of my policies through them. To give you an example, I insured my 2005 4Runner 2 months ago when I moved back, full coverage, I'm 25 and have a few tickets from 2 years ago, I pay 199 a month with York, 40 bucks less than I paid in Vancouver (go figure that shit out).

Ugh man, this is screwed. There has to be a way to do this otherwise I have to sell the car, the reason I bought it was because it was such a good deal.

El Gato Liso

thats true

i did a quote on a 92 e36 and i got a quote of 220/month
which is why i might sell my e30 for an e36...just might
if not im going to go back to my ultra origialnal plans and get me a 240sx

I just called statefarm and they're going to call me back. I have a feeling it's going to suck.

Anybody else find this rediculous, I mean I had an accident 3 years ago and they want to charge me 3 times what my car is worth per year on insurance. I don't drive like an idiot, I believe i'm a pretty safe driver actually. This is retarded.

3 years ago? That should be off your driving record by now.

edit: nvm, you said "almost" 3 years.

^^ I am 19, have an '88 325iS and Im insured with Belair. I pay about 260~ a month. G2 license BTW. Had the policy since I was 17 though...

You shoulda got the car insured before because like you found out, they wont now. I know for sure as hell my car is not going off my policy otherwise I may never be able to put it back on again with their stupid 20 year old car rule.
