Zippo U.S. Vintage Grand Prix Watkin's Glen
Friday - Sunday, September 7-9, 2007

The 2007 season will close with the traditional season finale-the Zippo U.S. Vintage Grand Prix, September 7-9. This event celebrates racing's history and continues to be the largest vintage racing event in the country featuring historic cars of the past from as far back as the 1930's and is held in conjunction with the Grand Prix Festival in the Village of Watkins Glen. Both the track and the festival will feature BMW as the weekend's featured marque. The weekend's featured guest has not been announced yet, so stay tuned for additional information.

You cannot go on the track unless you register for the Performance Driving School (http://www.trillium-bmwclub.ca/site/page.jsp?DriverTraining) that is taking place at Mosport that same weekend. We are only using the same venue. Bimmercruise includes an hour-long cruise to Mosport, and a large BMW-specific show & shine with 35+ trophy classes.

^^ no possibility of going on the track unless you register for the Trillium Performance Driving School (http://www.trillium-bmwclub.ca/site/page.jsp?DriverTraining) and attend the 2-day school (registration still open). There is a (small) possibility of some skidpad time in the late afternoon on Sunday, but i'm not promising anything as someone might abuse the privilage by making molten rubber out of their tires.

I wouldn't even be responsible for that Randy....you are too good to this board! A lot of these members can't even grasp the concept of a "CRUISE ". I mean... really.. how hard is it to follow a car in a straight line, stay a safe distance back, and not peel out on gravel roads?

I can just imagine what will occur on a skid pad!:moon:

Jay

Jay,

I have little respect and no tolorence for people that act like babies and idiots when at these events. I do not look to single people out, but I do call a spade a spade.

Why I stick around... well.. my passion and one of my hobbies is BMW.... so, yes, I will stick around as long as I am permitted. There are a lot of members here that feel the same way I do and do not post it and some do. And there are discussions about the way they see things and/or the way they feel at different meets and events.

I've known Randy a long time - and yes, maybe some of the things that I say to him should be sent through a PM... but wait... oh ya... I don't have them.

see you at bimmercruise!!*rockout*

like last year, when you get to Mosport you register for the show. (edit: EMPOWERD)

Once you get to mosport you have to provide your drivers licence and Insurance papers and sign a waiver that basicly says that you acknowlege that motorsports are inharently dangerous and that you release Mosport (and panoz) from any liability if you get hurt.

Also as a part of this you are agreeing that you will not damage the property or otherwise deface the park (meaning you won't sit there and do burnouts etc.) this is why you need to give them your drivers licence info and insurance info, that way if they catch you doing something like that they know who you are and your insurance company will be notifyed.

Very well done!!! The cruise went very smoothly...no accidents this time and the roads werent too bad to drive on even with excessive lack of wheel gap. Good to see some sweet rides there today!!! There better be at least one more cruise before the end of fall!!!!!

Thanks to the Bimmercruise staff for having a great show! I had a lot of fun until I got a nail in one of my tires on the way out of the park the stopped me on the 401! Luckily I had the E30 champ (Mustafa) stopped and helped me out! Props to Bimmersport for the help and great morning meet with Breakfast! We really appreciate all you guys do at Bimmersport and it really makes us proud to have you guys work on our cars! Last thing, I honestly think the George should have gotten some sort of trophy for sickest E36 there! But it was fun!!!

Great show , Kudos to Randy and all the support staff who made this another fine event . The rain had me thinking I just spent 4 facken days detailing my ride and am not going to see it washed away in 30 sec.....I will wait .....by 1:00 the sky cleared and we rolled , nice ride out no traffic no cops. Congrats to all the winners I think we all have some fine machines. Also thanks to the models that drained allot of camera battery power , QuickChicks 3s hood got some extra buffing as well as the guy parked in front of me sorry did not get yer name is your sunroof closing ok ? Looking forward to next years this event can only get better each tyme. Detail tip , when your brushing your pearlys an look down at that brush and think its done... well its not done yet, a shot of Fantastic followed by some detail liquid your choice can get into those nooks an cranny's that are hard to reach, I know they sell detail brushes but thats for the final stage. OK Thanks Again.

Hi George, I was the judge for the e36's. I know your car was a 328is and not an M. The 'WBA' VIN doesn't lie, and yes I look at things like that :P. I judged it as a 328. Your car is awesome, and it was clean. There was one point difference between your car and Fab's car, that's how close it was. I'm a hard judge, I give low scores to everyone unless they deserve it. Only like 4 cars had over 50 of 100, but I'm also consistant. You had a 53, Fab has a 54.

If you want a perfect score, show up with an immaculate slammed carbon fibre widebody turbo M3 CSL with a huge stereo, a cage, fully redone interior in alcantera, 20x12" BBS's, 16" Brembo's and a naked woman painted on the hood. *rockout*

Honestly I wasn’t even going to enter at first but Charlie the night before talked me into it. I just figured there where alot of other cleaner E36's out there and I didn’t stand a chance.

It's not a concours.. it's a modified car show. Cleanliness only accounts for 5% total points on the judging sheet. How can we dock $40k in mods over some dirt on a rainy day that 80% of the competitors also had?

That's precisely why this is the first and last time you'll see my car (which isn't stock by the way but was modified with extremely rare stock parts) at this show.

You can't based on the way you're judging, and that apparently means anyone with a limited budget hasn't got a chance of winning. :P

Edit: It's your show, though, so you can obviously run it however you want to.

There's such a thing in the e36 class as a rare stock part?

Also, about the cleanliness comment, the show organizers took into account the fact that most people drove through rain to get to the show... You may knock their compassion, I commend it. Much rather not wash the dirt off my car with a rag and risk scratching the paint just for a car show I drove in the rain to get to...

I admit we may not have had enough trophy classes to satisfy everyone. I know your car very well, and noticed the many upgrades you made on it (and how clean it was). I ask that you reconsider your negative attitude for next year as this is a learning curve for us. During the first 5 years, Bimmercruise had a several concours classes for cars exactly like yours.. rare, babied and prestine. Last year we combined the BMWCC-Trillium concours with Bimmercruise at Mosport, but didn't have enough entries... so we dropped it all together this year. Next year, I promise we will have more classes to appease enthusiasts like yourself. I'm sorry if you left with a sour memory of the event. I ask that you try and understand the difference between a true "concours" and a "show & shine" event. It is my event, and I assure you i'm trying to be as fair as possible. I've got years of experience entering my old E30 at shows all around the U.S. & Canada.. and know exactly how it feels to get beat by someone with 10 TV's at Hot Import Nights 1000KM away... i'm trying to stay away from that.

Fu*k if its anyone that should be disputing anything its me losing to 1 point and disputing 1st or 2nd spot but its not a big deal. Its hard enough that the judge had to narrow down a whole bunch of cars but narrow it down to a final point ??? Come on Shockwave no one likes there judgements challenged its tough enough. Its not about the things we got its about the things we have when we got there. A huge annual BMW family meet. Everything else is gravy or in my case I like to use whip cream. OH YEAH BABY !!!!!!!

Anyone who washes dirt off their car with a rag needs a lesson in proper car care.

There were plenty of extremely clean cars at the show, and most of them drove through the same rain everyone else did. When you drive to a car show to compete in the rain you come prepared with detailing supplies and get the car cleaned up when you arrive.

I admit we may not have had enough trophy classes to satisfy everyone. I know your car very well, and noticed the many upgrades you made on it (and how clean it was). I have no problem with it being a modified car show, and I know most of the people on this forum much prefer it that way.

I put a lot of hard work and money into preparing my car for the show only to find out I wasn't actually eligible to compete when I got there. I don't mind losing fairly when I'm beat by a better car, but when given a choice between competing against a nice regular 3 series or supercharged heavily modified M3 I didn't feel right going up against either one.

I ask that you try and understand the difference between a true "concours" and a "show & shine" event. It is my event, and I assure you i'm trying to be as fair as possible.

The title "show & shine" doesn't sound like you need a modified car to me.

Randy, without a much larger number of cars attendance I don't think you should be making up classes just to keep everyone happy - if my car doesn't qualify I don't need to bring it next year.

One less car won't ruin the show. *mumble*
