View Full Version : Trunklid Handle Broke Off...

So I was really tired leaving work the other day, and thought I had unlocked the trunk. I pulled up on the trunk handle and it just ripped off. Looking at the way it was secured to the trunk, it looks pretty weak. The four screws are still on the trunk, but the thin pieces of plastic on the handle that the the screws held on to just ripped off. It was also a non-rigid connection, with a foam pad between the handle and trunk, so I guess years of flexing eventually weakened the already measly plastic supports.

So, I guess my question is this. Does anyone have a Topaz Blue trunk handle they'd like to part with? How much do you think the dealer would charge for this? Would it still be covered by my extended warranty?

I'm considering filling the holes with epoxy, then drilling new holes to remount the handle. I'm not sure if the epoxy will hold though.
