my dad's friend has a 1990 325i automatic with 190,000km that he has babied for 15 years. only seen two winters. he is a german gentleman in his 70s and is considering parting with it. the entire car is completely original.

-body is mint with only a tiny touch of wheel well rust
-original paint, spot touchups where rocks chipped the hood
-rear interior is mint, front has some minor wear, no rips
-dealership maintained, with all service records
-sunroof mint, fully functional
-excellent running condition
-every inch of the car cared for meticulously
-only driven 2000km/year for the last 5 years

ideally he wants to sell it to an owner that will appreciate its stock condition, not rip it apart and turn it into a track car.

how much should he be asking? if anyone has some serious interest, feel free to pm me. the car is in waterloo, ontario.

Current AutoTrader asking price range for an E30 325i is between $2,000 and $4,000 (in various levels of condition judging by the photos). Your Dad's friend's E30 appears to be in excellent condition so I would use that as a basis and go from there. Good luck!

not sure how much, but you cant stop the next buyer from making it into an autocross car if they want to.

ill agree with mystikal, its getting harder to find an e30, if its an e30 you want.

whoa that's an error in my original post. it is 212 as you say. (anyone know how to edit the original?)

really sorry for the misinformation.

that's way below the range he's hoping for. heck, i'd give him $700 just for the seats...

he wouldn't consider $1500. jay's $4-5k estimate is more the range he had in mind. it's good to hear he wasn't far off. (of course, the "current price" is always just the amount someone is willing to spend)

if anyone is interested in looking at the car, and $4-5k seems reasonable, feel free to pm me.

thanks everyone for all the input!

true. he's just hoping it ends up in a good home.

(though I would think it would be cheaper to buy an e30 in worse condition if you're just going to rip out everything to put a roll cage and mechanical mods in.)

I would say that Jay's estimate is too high.... sorry, but here's why;

1 - the car is automatic
2 - very clean yes, but still 17 years old
3 - not a rare colour or rare options
4 - very bad for a car to sit - seals rot, fluids build up crap, etc.
5 - high kilometres for that price range

IMO - your best bet is to put it on Ebay for $2000.00 usd and see where you get...

I really don't think that you are going to get $4-5K for the car when E30 cabrios that are cleaner than that car....no rust forming... and about 50 - 60 K km's less for $4K range.

thanks mike. that's helpful input. just to be clear though, he does run it about 2000km/year still, and the storage facility where he keeps it in winter starts the car regularly as part of their service.

ya...bummer that it's an automatic...

Show me some examples of clean non-winter rust-free low-mileage plastic-bumper E30s selling for less in Toronto and I'll retract my estimate.

There aren't many ppl that would spend that much money on an e30. It may be worth that much, but finding a buyer that will pay that is another story.

The people who would, are lookin for manual, lsd diff, 'is goodies (mtec2 steering wheel, BBS wheels, side skirts, spoliers, front lips)

Yours has none of those desirable qualities, as mint as it is.

In the end, its worth as much as someone will pay for it.

In toronto.. there are probably few.. but I would never purchase a car from here... they are all rusted.. plus, this car does have rust, it says it in the sellers post. I might have a 318is coming in to a friends shop.. he's looking for $2K if his client doesn't pay.. so, I will post pics for ya!

Plus, it's not expensive to ship a car from California or Florida....and I would much rather buy a car with oxidized paint from the heat or a cracked dash versus rust buckets..

by the way.... here's an example..

and Jay, if you and the E30 crew will buy clean cars for that price range... I think that I found a new line of work! *drink*
