View Full Version : Ability to Edit Original Post

I think we should have the ability to edit your thread starting post in threads you have created. This is especially helpful in FS or Q&A threads, so new information can be added to the starting post without others having to read through numerous post/pages to scan for updated information. This also makes it easier for other's to see the new info right when they click the thread title, instead of possibly missing it since it is several posts (or pages) down.

What say you?

So.. seeing as it's quite agreed that this is probably a good idea, how do we got about implementing the change? Do we sit here and wait for the mods to stumble across this thread or...? :)

^^mods have lives too bro, and these changes aren't as easy to implement as you might think. Plus, 5 people agreeing to something doesn't mean there's a concensus.

I was being sarcastic about the sitting there and waiting part ;)

I'll throw my name in the hat as well for being able to edit original posts , hell your should be able to edit any post you make .Not have it dependent on how long ago you made it and lock you out.
As far as i have seen it is just a check box for yes or no , on vBulletin to have the feature enabled .

almost every other "non-bmw" forum (seems like they are all driven by the same source code) is allowing you to modify any of your posts anytime.

dont know why these arent ..

+1 on the change

deleting your own thread is a big*thmbsdwn* it would suck to go two pages back, only to realize that the thread has been deleted

edit, **** that, old thread

I think we should have the ability to delete europrinces posts.

I think we should have the ability to bad boots permanently. These temporary bans haven't worked.

Sorry, we've considered this in the past, but we found that this would not work here. It may on smaller boards, but there's a lot of traffic here, making a lot of posts/threads which would make it more difficult to moderate.
Also if people were to be able to change/remove their posts at any given time which may cause a thread to make no sense if one decides to delete, and another does not.

As i see some of you are easily drifting off topic near the end(short attention span perhaps?), ill close the thread.
