Whats your budget?

Here's a few. these are above average cameras.

Canon S30/S40
Canon Powershot G2

OLYMPUS C-730UZ
OLYMPUS C4000

NIKON COOLPIX 4300

Olympus is known to take excellent night shots. Nikon of course will take excellent picture quality shots.

check out henrys, but i recommend you lean towards one of the 3 mfg's i listed, even on their lower-end models.

i have an CANAON S230 its a 3.2 MP with 9pt. autofocus and stuff.
it has same internals as the rest of PowerShot series but as u go up the scale the manual adjustments get better as in you can fine tune the pic you gonna capture to your own taste.
it pretty moderately priced about 500 CAD

Nikon CoolPix 990, 995, 4500, or 5000 are some of the best i've ever used.
alot of DTMPower.net's great shots were done on the 995 which is what i own. I want to buy a second one i like them so much, but i might get the 5megapixel 5000 model next instead.

whatever you do, dont go less than 3.0megapixel. You'll enjoy the clarity it brings to your pictures especially when blown up.

The best site I've found, so far, for digital cameras is DP Review (http://www.dpreview.com/). They have extensive reviews on a gazillion different digi cams. You can also compare cameras, see examples of pictures taken with these cameras, etc., etc., etc...

I think you'll need to know what you want to take pictures of and in what lighting conditions. Also, you may want to consider how big you want to see these pictures and any special features you'd be looking for before jumping in on any camera.
