means that you are about to blow up the airbag

just JK lol

System malfunction:
> The indicator lamp fails to come on
> The indicator lamp comes on briefly
before going out and then lighting up
again.
If there is a system malfunction, there
is a risk that the airbags will not be triggered
in their normal response range in
the event of an accident, even though
the impact is severe.
Please have your authorized BMW center
inspect and repair the system as
soon as possible.
The airbag indicator lamp also
comes on if the safety belt tensioners
have been triggered.<

according to BMW manual

try to find a local place... that can scan it rather then dealer... dealers are over priced

Peake offers a reset tool for about $140 USD allot cheaper than multiple resets from the stealership.

Does the light flash and then go off or does it stay lit? If is stays on, you need to get it scanned to find out the exact cause for your airbag light by the dealer or local BMW specialist.

I guess all E46 are getting aged, I have the same issue as well. I bought to RMP motors and they had it reset for me......They are many different reasons to trigger the light....most often the plug underneath the seat came loose, and you just need to secure the plug and reset the light and you will be fine, if not, expect to spend 300 cad and up to fix it

Call safety restraint systems inc, Ask for Brad he will come to you. This is the guy the dealers use. He takes care of all my air bag lights, I rebuild write offs for a living so I see alot of air bag lights.
