I need to pic someone's brain. I need to find out whats the diff between a 328 computer and an M3. Here's the situation, I have a 98 328i with an AA S/C. I swaped the motor for a 99 3.2L. Car runs good and seems to pull hard, the AA software in the 328 computer seams to work fine. No check eng, perfect idle. Dose any one know if I will see any gains by swiching to the M3 computer. Active wants about 400us for new software and 150us for a new mass air recalibrator. AA says Mass air and injectors are the same between 328 and M3. I have heard of people running 3.2L's on 328 computers to by pass antitheft so I just want to know if I need to swap Ecu's

Hey Justin, Im glad your happy with your new motor. First off, let me say your car has been a pleasure to work on and see, let me tell you guys that this is a perfect example of a nicely well modded E36. From AA, UUC, H&R I only saw the highest quality products on his car. *th-up*

Are you talking about using AA 328 software on the 3.2L or using the computer itself, but reprogramming to 3.2L spec software from AA? If you are only using the computer itself from your old set up, it is ok but the software would not be tuned properly from my understanding. Note: From my understanding.

I could be wrong, but it doesnt make sense to use software configured for a smaller engine, but at the same time the injectors are similar and so is the MAF, so the A/F ratios couldnt be too far off. Would someone else like to shed some light on this?
