-MAF Conversion
-M50 Injectors

MAF Conversion
My all-time favourite addition to the M20 engine.

MAF really does wonders to the laggy M20. Especially revving from idle onwards. Forget fluctuating revs at gas-off. expect instantaneous response with a press of the pedal.

For this, some kind of a ecu tuning device is required. For this, i used the existing Unichip i have already been using for at least the last 6 years.

You can easily replace the AFM with the MAF without tuning the ECU and the engine will work but the car will be next to undriveable. you could probably try using a fuel and ignition altering device on your own. just make sure you have an aif/fuel ratio gauge to monitor performance.

There are 2 options for manipulating the existing air temperature probe. To dig the existing one out from the M20 AFM and plugging it in to the MAF and wiring it or to use an adjustable voltage resistor to emulate temperature reading to the ECU. but the reading will be a stagnant one. I prefer the easier resistor route.

M50 Injectors Conversion
Forget lumpy performance.

I don't know if it's the age or part of wear and tear, but the M20 injectors actually streams rather than mist the fuel. No matter how many times it's cleaned, ultrasonically or not, i never got the M20 injectors to spray properly.

Other significant differences of the M50 Injectors are the 4 smaller nozzles instead of the M20 single large nozzle.

If you have problems with cold starts or lumpy performance, get a set of M50 injectors instead.

By the way:
Anyone's got a 3" air filter for sale? Running without one now.
By the way, i've got some things i may sell:
-M20 B25 AFM
-Huge K&N Air filter
-K&N Air Filter original attachment bracket for the AFM

12-19-2006, 01:04 AM
WOW, one of the nicest cars here on maxbimmer!!! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK

12-19-2006, 03:10 AM
hi guys, thanks!

a lot of you old guys are still here,
Gamite, you're still having the red E34 huh :)
I don't see shragon around yet :)

About the ACS wheels,
what gamite said is right, these wheels are offset 15s
plus.. i'm running on 12mm fronts and 15mm rear spacers with slightly modified front fenders.

the spacers are there not only to make it look badder, but i need the extra clearance from the front coilovers. it is to let the spring perch clear the wheels to allow it to go lower.

12-19-2006, 03:40 AM
It looks sick....*th-up*

12-19-2006, 09:49 AM
ACS bodykit on the e36 or e34 is the only way I'd go aside from the M bodykit.

Both cars are amazing. Too bad that in Malaysia BBS LM's and ACS/Hartge/Hammann bodykits are dime a dozen....while here in NA everyone jizzes over them

12-19-2006, 06:04 PM
*drink* *drink* can it get any better?....i don't think so*love* *th-up* *love*

12-24-2006, 11:18 PM
