Hey Guys;

Just a feeler for any interest on my Porsche. Car was purchased as a project car, over 20k in upgrade/rebuild has been put into the car.

It was salvaged in 1998, had a few owners since [thats why it was a good candidate - project car].

Here's what Project 951 included:

i've put too much effort into this beast to part it. it will smoke my e46 M3 on the track. really don't want to part it. i want to move to another project - really love porsches, but its time to move on to something else. [its eaten a lot of cars on the local streets *smoke* ]
i've taken a few racing schools, and i just need more of a challenge. this car makes it EASY to be fast on the track!!! after building a dedicated 951 race car with the road racing team, i'm just looking into getting into something else. The car was built by the championship team in the race shop - their work is incredible.

As for the car - its a 1987, malvin red - rare colour - the repaint was done to original colour as it was only available in '87. It was originally a US car = passenger and driver side air bags [much nicer steering wheel]. the 951 was actually the first sportscar to offer this in [in US models only]. for the cup 2's - they are decent, but a refinishing could be beneficial [no curb rash, just the finish looking a little worn - straight and true on all 4 with toyo RA-1's with 1 heat cycle]. the front are actually 8". the 911's only had 7.5 - i wanted the extra .5" so i got the winter package 911 wheels to fit wider track tires. the offset set the wheel inward a little, but they still clear big reds [993 turbo red calipers]. the tires are amazing - stored in shrink wrap to avoid drying out in a heated shop.

for pics of the exterior:

http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f56/951kid/DSC01034.jpg

i wil post more pics tomorrow off my other computer.

for the car, i would be looking at about 18k with all the parts, and wheels in there. the car also has a set of rebuilt KONI yellow shocks included. the brake pads are new, as are the spark plugs. car will be e-tested this week.
i did enjoy this monster while i had it. when i rebuilt it - i did the build with everything i could afford. 911's have been surprised when getting spanked by this 951. the only part i havent really completed on this project was the interior - its a little old [but i do have an mp3 deck]. i have a black interior - almost full - no seats, missing a couple of peices, i would include this with the car for anybody who wanted to use it as a street car. the new motor has 10k on it. i have the piggy back ECU & software for any application you wish to use it for.

since i have had the car - it has been garaged and received the best fluids. that rebuild was done last winter, this summer - 10 k on the motor. it was pulled apart and inspected last month to ensure the rebuild was within race specs. let me know if you have any more questions.
any inquiries - please email djazzy99@gmail.com in case i haven't been on the board.

take care *wave*

Part it part it, why are you getting rid of it?

turbo twists?

the turbo twists are 17" = replicas. real twists are 18". i really didnt want the extra weight & porsche recommends not going to 18's on this suspension design.

the nice thing about the car is that it is an '87 - last yr for vintage road racing cut off, and has a LOT of upgrades compared to the '86. alignments on this car were done by Scott Goodyear's old mechanic - really knowledgeable!

yeah, mine is an 86, no airbags.....

BEAUTIFUL 951, good luck with the sale. If you do end up keeping it through the winter, we should meet up in the spring and take some pics.

Great price too

yeah, in Canada, the airbags didn't show up until i think 90 in the s2 cab. the 86 also has half the seem welds, no forged rods, shorter track etc etc.

once on the race track, the differences can really be made negligable.

I probably will have the car in spring - we'll do a photoshoot, i know a photographer that specializes in cars. i will be driving this car until it sells. [wait until you see the pics i post tomorrow!]

if you need parts, advice, help on your 951 let me know, i can offer some advice.

other than that - pass this thread on to anybody who needs a fast track star!

what kind of turbo is that a k27?

951kid
12-01-2006, 09:07 AM
a k27 is a german made turbo - porsches come with k-series turbos.

stock turbo for a non-turbo s = k26/6, i have a k27/6. that is a larger cold side.

I heard that the 951's had a problem with them blowing cause of the bearing's. I know someone who had a Turbo Cup Car and i think it was the #3 Bearing always kept blowing on him.

Any Info on this?

It was the #2 bearing actually. They have an issue on the track where the oil sloshes up to one side of the pan if you are running it low.

This is why a popular modification is the baffled oil pan and the cross drilled crank.

The bearings on this car are new, and the crank is cross drilled. :)

So you're asking $18,000?

Gorgeous! Good luck with the sale. I'm tempted to take it off your hands!

So you're asking $18,000?

Thats with everything included:

17" geniune cup 2 porsche 911 wheels with Toyo Ra-1 [r-compounds] with 1 heat cycle.

Rebuilt Koni shocks for the front [car comes with a set already, and i have a spare set ready to go out to koni for rebuilding]

All peices of black interior that i have. its almost complete - missing one door skin i believe, and no black seats.

if you are not interested in some of this stuff, that's ok too! i can lower the price if you do not require the extras - i will try to sell them seperately.
