I'm a new member here and relatively new to Canada as well (from Australia).
I want to pose the question to those running either turbo'd or S/C'd E30's.
Im well aware of the mechanical diffferences between the Turbo and S/C concept but wanted to find out first hand, what difference in performance characteristics are they?
E.g S/C running 7psi compared to a Turbo running 7psi, are we talking same/similar output?

Look up supercharger then look up Turbo.

both will put out around the same numbers in terms of HP, the turbo may have a bit more than the SC but in terms of torque the turbo should have a substancial amount more than the SC only because the SC uses engine energy to drive the unit itself. the turbo system is more efficient this way.

The main difference will be the power made under the area of the curve which can be seen on a dyno chart; Turbo's generally have a broader area if you are comparing this to a vortech s/c. Turbo sizing is also a variable that will effect the power characteristics @ 7psi.
I've rode in both setups. The power delivery on a vortech s/c setup feels more linearly while in the turbo setup, it has a nice 'torquey' feeling once boost kicks in. I have yet to ride in a Positive Displacement (or twin screw) s/c setup, however it will probably feel like the turbo setup but with no lag.

A PD setup doesn't feel like it's supercharged, it just feels like a larger naturally aspirated engine. That's why I like them so much :)

The supercharger feels like a bigger displacement motor. Which means there is no lag.
I have raced an Turbo M3 with my Supercharged M3 a few years back. From a roll I got a 1/2 lead by the time we hit end of 3rd he almost made up the loss.
