View Full Version : what year does disc brake rear ends start?

I want to put a disc brake rear end in my e30 this summer but I don't know what year to look for. Mine is a 84 318i

318 have rear disks '87 onwards

Mine is an 1984 533is, and its got the disks all around...

I think your car is quite a bit wider, and I need to get the right ratio gear. I think I will stick within the series

Yeah, 325e are probably the best E30 to buy based on price. You get ABS, front/rear disk brakes....

Actually the 533is rear end on a E30 would be nice. You would could probably fit 265 tyres with the aid of some huge flares. Hmmmm, nice :)

325e's of all years had discs all around... a few people have made the switch, you need everything from the axles on I believe. I was looking at doing it myself...

What kinda of breaking distance do E30 get??

318 front disk, read drum?
318 front,read disk brakes?
325e?

I don't really think the rear disks help a lot. It probably better installing bigger front disk and using some good brake pads.

Anyone thought of installing the whole wheel/break system from a 750 into a 318 :)
